Hi, I'm Emma.
I'm a home cook in Columbus, Ohio, and this site is where I keep the recipes I actually make. Not the ones that look good in a photo and fall apart on a Tuesday night. The ones that work.

Home cook. Copycat obsessive. Tuesday-night realist.
By the sixth try, I'd stopped writing ‘good luck’ in my notes and started writing down what actually worked.
How this started
Sunday dinner was a big deal in my family. Nobody was allowed to skip it, and the best part was standing next to my grandmother while she pulled out a shoebox of handwritten recipe cards, half of them stained with butter. I never thought of it as learning to cook. It was just what we did.
The copycat obsession came later, mostly out of stubbornness. Eating out got expensive, and I got tired of paying restaurant prices for soup I was pretty sure I could figure out. My first attempt at a gnocchi soup was a soggy disaster. My second was better. By the sixth, I'd stopped writing 'good luck' in my notes and started writing down what actually worked. That notebook became this site.
How I test recipes
Every recipe here gets made in my own kitchen, on a stove that runs a little hot on the back left burner and a counter with about two feet of usable space. If a recipe needs a special gadget or three hours of babysitting, you'll find out before you start. If I had to change something after a test, I'll tell you what and why.
What you'll find here
Copycat favorites
Restaurant dishes you can make at home for a fraction of the price.
Weeknight meals
Real dinners that fit real schedules, most under 30 minutes.
Honest notes
What worked, what didn't, and what I'd change next time.
Thanks for being here. If a recipe works for you, I'd love to hear about it. If it doesn't, I definitely want to know.
Now go make something good.
